I’m writing this because I’ve had to build a new website and it feels weird to not have something on here.
I’ve had to build a new website because I’m out of Adobe’s ecosystem now – my previous portfolio site was on their platform.
This was a daunting step. My portfolio is important for me, and tools like Photoshop are vital to my work. But it was necessary. Adobe has been increasingly expensive, and their products have only been getting slower and more overloaded with AI junk.
So now I’m out. I’ve got my own privately hosted website, which I have full control over, and I’ve moved to free art tools. That’s dropped me from £56 a month down to about £10 a month in technical expenses…and now I feel liberated. I can do so much more with my own web hosting. It’s like getting my own house, in a very very small way. This place is mine now.
Nice.
